Turned 60 in 2007, on November 29th. Did nothing special on that day, mainly spending it with my wife Crystal. Crystal did take me out to dinner. Since we have no children, there was no family celebration, however I did hear from my Mother who had celebrated her 85th birthday 4 days earlier. I also heard from my brother and my youngest sister.

Hi, Folks,
I wasn't in your class (too old), but I noticed George Diamant was among the lost/missing. I heard from my mom he became a Greek Orthodox priest. I Googled him and found out he is at a church in Pittsburg, CA. (St. Dionysius, I think.)

Ahoy PIRATE classmates. Hi Bob Storm, Jan, Libby, Vicki, Sharon and everybody. I'm alive and kickin' in Colorado. Have been here for about 35 years. Divorced. Four daughters. Eleven grandchildren. One great grandson. Life is good. Miss each and every one of you and think about you often. Was so sad to hear about some of the LOST PIRATES. Let me know when the next reunion will be and I'll be there with my NOMAD jacket on. See ya.

Dear Jan, Sarah, Bev, Michele, and Al:
Thank you so much for sending the reunion DVD to us. We had so much fun watching it; we almost felt like we had been there! It sure made us sorry that we had been unable to attend. We'll make it next time for sure!
The website is a great idea. We can't wait to see more pictures and hear what old friends are doing.
FOR EVERYBODY: We have lived in Coquille, Oregon now for over two years. We love it here in our little town of 4,000. Mom (Janin's), son Sean, and 5-year-old granddaughter Sarah all live with us. Sarah is autistic, so offers many challenges for us, but she fills our hearts with love. Steve opted out of the day-to-day rat race several years ago, and is happily self-employed at home as a medical transcriptionist. I recently went to work for the Coos County Planning Department after a two-year retirement to stay home with Sarah until she started school. Our other son, Aron, is beginning a new, less stressful life in Pittsburg, CA having worked the past 4 years as a drug abuse counselor, and daughter Meghan is in her fourth year at Humboldt State University.
Thank you for your continued efforts to keep the reunions ongoing. See you in 2011!
Sincerely, Steve and Janin

Thank you for keeping this tradition alive. I would loved to have been there I was at the 35th and enjoyed seeing all of you. My 23 yr.old son was killed in a motorcycle accident here in Allentown Pa. and I could not justify leaving the family to go anywhere this year. Hopefully I will be able to make the next one> Best to all of you Larry

It has been years..... gee can't remember how long that I used the word "Blast".... but truly, I had an absolute BLAST at the reunion. Recognized very few except of course my cousins Gloria Lopez and Donnis Galvan. EVERYONE has aged gracefully. What an upbeat party! I chose to not relate to the "clique" mentality in high school, so accordingly went just happy to SEE how a bunch of 58 year olds looked. I walked up to several people I did not even know. That was pretty cool. Everyone was in a GREAT PLACE!
I did only one dumb thing: Walked up to Rich Black (thinking he was Danny DelCarlo) and gave him one big kiss right on the lips. Rich laughed, as I did later, when he said Danny was "over there". Danny and I both went to Assumption/Bancroft/SLHS, so it goes without saying, I knew Danny longer than anyone there. GREAT job organizers!!! Not planning on the 45th... but I recommend better prices for drinks. Paying $10 for a four ounce glass of wine was a bit ridiculous, in my opinion. Margaret Perry sent me a thank you note. She wrote: "The San Leandro Times publishes the dates of many school reunions but yours wasn't on the last list." Perhaps the committee may consider the suggestion.
THANK YOU MATES! You made my first high school reunion very memorable!

Sorry I missed the Reunion. I had my ticket and hotel reserved. At 5:30 p.m. on September, we released 14 white doves at the conclusion of my former wife's funeral/memorial in Oakland. I was in no shape to visit and share thoughts and memories with you at that moment even though my children and nephews were ready to drive me to Pleasanton. I will have to pick up the pieces of my SLHS years at a later date.
You can read Ruth's obit at http://www.legacy.com/InsideBayArea/DeathNotices.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonID=19299844 .
She came to the tenth reunion with me.

This website is fabulous! I plan on attending the reunion and can't wait to see everyone!
Life has had its ups and downs like most everyone else; but I am still doing well. I'm still working in HR as I have for the last 37 years--yikes! I love my job and don't plan on retiring any time soon. I have five grandchildren and currently live in Tracy where I moved to help raise two of my grandchildren; and have my dad living with me. My daughter, Karen has her own hair salon in Pleasanton called Plush Beauty Bar for those who want to stop by and say "I used to go to school with your mom!" (LOL)
Not sure if or when I'll retire; but, though I have property in AZ, I'm looking toward Paradise, CA.
Anyhow, Go Pirates Now & Forever!!!

It is great to see that we are having another reunion. I am sorry that Kim and I will not be able to make the special occasion.
Life is good for us. We've been married for 36 years, 2 kids graduating, and retirement on the horizon. We live in Rocklin and things are good, travel, golf, enjoying our time together.
I am so happy that Jan, Al, Bev, Sarah and Michelle continue to keep things going with the group. It has been forty long but eventful years for all of us. It is so rewarding to think that we still have classmates that will take their valuable time to get us all together again.
Kim and I regret that we will not be able to attend but are looking forward to our next get together.
Have fun
Bob and Kim Storm

Wow! What a surprise to find this website and hear names from way back when. I'm one of the guilty people who hasn't made it back to a reunion due to living outside of California. I'm going to do everything I can to make this one, even though it's a long way from Dallas to the bay area. I still have my yearbook which would be fun to go through at this event.

Great site mates! Your hard work shall soon come to fruition. Although I know Betty Shehi (PE) is attending, I just learned Hope Young (Sociology) and Almira DePace (PE) will be sending their money next couple days. Questionable are Vera Dickie (90 years old and doing exceptionally well), and Margaret Perry (Business). I connected with eight other classmates who will also be attending so I will KNOW at least a few people besides the teachers I have kept in contact with... What a hoot that I ended my teaching career teaching at San Leandro High 1998-2002 or was is 2003? See ya soon. Judy

I'm sorry to have to miss another reunion, but have enjoyed reading everyone's notes and looking at the pictures. I've been teaching first grade for the last 12 years, so I have a ways until retirement. I'm still living in Oregon, just outside of Portland--27 years now, still married for 38 years--gosh that sounds like a long time! My brother, Mark, just moved about 15 miles away after 30 some years in Ellensburg, Wa. Any one know about reunions for the class of '67?
I'm trying to show some restraint in not giving to many details about my 3 children & 7 grandchildren (all under 6 yrs old) so I will only say they are such a blessing and give me such joy!
Thanks to each of you who have worked so hard to make sure we have reunions & this incredible website.

This is my first trip to the class website.
Yes, shame on me, first time in 40 years. I found it well done and quite informative.
At first I thought I wouldn't remember anyone but the names and faces brought back such warm memories of good times, bad times, and good friends.
The Pirates Lost Section brought tears and heartaches of those gone way to soon.
We are all much more mature than we were back in 1966. Always putting on a face to hide who we were inside. For those who know what I mean, I say,
I'm sorry.....
Thanks to this site, I will always
Remember !!!

Looking forward to visiting with everyone at our 40th. I am now living in the Central Valley, Manteca and drive in to San Jose every day for work. I'm one of those crazy commuters on the road before 4:00 AM. I went back to school and got my Masters at 50 and have worked at Lockheed Martin for the last eight plus years. How do these things happen? No spouse, no kids, but I get to share my sister's two daughters and their kids. So, I have three great nephews and a great niece. My sister and I went to visit distant cousins in Germany last year and they took us to Poland to see where our Grandmother and her family lived before being sent out of the country with what they could carry after the country was split because of the war. It was a great trip. Hope to see lots of you at the reunion!

Hi! I'm living up here in Orland, (near Chico), my son is the graduating class of 2006, had him right before my 40th birthday, and now I am finally going to a reunion. Guess I was hard to find, first marriage was spent being a hippie and building a boat in SF and then sailing to Acapulco and Maui. Jumped ship and married a race car driver, its been 22 years and I just drove the race track for the first time in Willows at Thunderhill in my Mini Cooper, so much fun. I work for the Orland Unified School District as an Instructional Aide, and do yard and bus duty, I also got my real estate license the end of last year, and started working for Land Office Realty in Jan. after school and on Saturdays, really enjoy it. My husband and I go to the Monterey Historic Car Races every year, he is the Chief Steward of the event and I work tech registration and Impound in case any of you are there this year. Look forward to seeing you in Sept. Thank you Janice Hillblom for finding me!

So sorry I'm going to miss the reunion! Especially missing the Thomas Jefferson gang! After the last reunion in November, I met my husband Nick who is a full blooded Greek. I guess I will be spelling my last name for the rest of my life. Nick is from Boston, huge Greek family and that is where we are going to be on Sept. 23rd. Did you see my "Big Fat Greek Wedding"? Well, this is it! To meet the family it took 4 dinners and every dinner had at least 25 people (remember this is family) and at least 2 "Nick's" in the every group.
Being Italian helps as I understand all the hugging and kissing, lots of laughing and good music and food. We both work, me office manager at Allstate in Danville (very close to home) and Nick is in the high tech industry. I am very happy and we just love to travel.
See you next time!!!!!

From shedding tears with Glen Kennedy in the cafeteria on the day JFK was assassinated through the long nights of rehearsal for "South Pacific", "Guys and Dolls" and "Oklahoma" to getting the opportunity to be the last Pirate to address you all. Oh yeah, I was the third and final speaker at the 1966 graduation with a speech replete with doors opening and as many futuristic metaphors as I could dream up. I recall how Rex Palmer, driving a Buick Riviera, and I went to the Fillmore two consecutive nights in a row to see Jimi Hendrix debut in America. Cranking out the Cargo with my role as Sports Editor to make a great football team look great throughout their three year dominance of ACAL teams and even when we held the national football power Bellarmine Prep to a 17-0 score. Those were glorious days culminating in a 1966 graduation at SLHS.

It's hard to believe that 40 years have passed since we graduated from San Leandro High.
Although, as someone stated earlier here, our bodies tell us otherwise sometimes.
I am looking forward to being at the reunion.
It will be my first trip back to the Bay Area in nearly 16 years. As I lived in the Atlanta Area for 13+ years and now live in the Nashvegas(A Music Minister that my wife and I know calls Nashville Nashvegas).
As for a photo of me, I will try to convice my wife to take one of me so that I can post it here at a later date.
The only photo that I have of me, that has been taken in recent years is my work ID photo and being that it was taken by the Agency that I work for's Police Department, It looks like a "mug shot".
Sorry but I won't be able to "brag about" any children or grandchildren since Crystal and I have none. However, I think my sister will more than likely make up for me when she talks about her Grandson, who turns 1 in October.
